100 Mile House:
100 Mile House (referred to locally as "Hundred Mile") offers rustic charm, beautiful lakes, plentiful outdoor activities, unique guest and dude ranches and a friendly atmosphere. It is located on a plateau in south-central British Columbia, 458 km north-east from Vancouver and 95km south of Williams Lake.

We enjoy the outdoors! We have extensive cross country and biking trails and we enjoy the many lakes in the area. We also play in our outdoors on horses, ATV's, showshoes or snowmobiles. There are active hockey, soccer, and curling teams at the south Cariboo Recreation Centre, as well as archery, gymnastics, figure skating, basketball, and more. 100 Mile House has its own bowling alley, movie theatre, and shooting range, and it is a very popular destination for avid hunters. Many of the local resorts offer additional fun activities, including a newly renovated pool and spa. There are wonderful elementary schools with music programs and French immersion, as well as several day cares and beautiful parks with playgrounds. For a small town, 100 Mile House has a wonderful variety of restaurants serving Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Filipino, Thai, German, Mexican, and American cuisine. In short, this community is perfect for doctors seeking the tranquility and outdoor recreation of a small town with the convenience and amenities of a larger centre - minus the traffic!

Village Medical Clinic:
The Village Medical Clinic, located in the heart of 100 Mile House, has a large patient waiting area, staff parking, 8 spacious consulting rooms, and 2 shared offices for desk work. Each consulting room is equipped with a computer and printer for the MedAccess EMR system. In addition, there is a procedure room with all instruments required for minor procedures including an autoclave. A great office staff including Office Manager, 2 MOA’s and a Receptionist will help you settle in, and support your administrative needs.

100 Mile House Hospital (OMH) is a 16-bed rural community hospital offering emergency, low-risk obstetrics, general medical, and outpatient ambulatory care services. The updated and recently renovated ER includes full 24/7 radiology and laboratory services. Access to CT scanning and ultrasound is an hour away. Other features include portable bed-side ultrasound, and a well-equipped trauma bay. Our local nursing and admin staff are indispensable in helping operate the hospital. Dedicated and highly skilled ER and generalist nurses work in a collaborative atmosphere.

Specialists are available in Williams Lake (1 hour drive). Currently this includes 3 General Surgeons, 3 OB/GYNs, a General Internist, a Pediatrician and a psychiatrist. They also offer CT during the day. Kamloops is the nearest tertiary hospital, 2 hour drive, at which there are most specialties with the exception of interventional Cardiology. We have access to specialist advice electronically within the hospital system.

Or, maybe you’re a husband and wife team looking to relocate, and work in the same clinic? Village Medical Clinic in 100 Mile House has a full time opportunity. This is a perfect time to come and build a substantial practice with a good future. One of the GP’s who is leaving with a large practice with future physicians nearing retirement. The area is growing as more and more people move here from other areas of the province, and there are many people seeking a physician.

Overheads are shared and in keeping with practices of this size – approximately 25%.

In addition to clinic work, you would be required to provide service for approximately 6 twelve hour shifts per month at the 100 Mile Hospital emergency room, (located minutes from the clinic), as well as follow your own patients in hospital and residential care. Clinic colleagues cover each other’s patients when away. Currently, there is no anesthetist, and thus, obstetric services are offered in Williams Lake.

The hospital, in addition to ER, offers general medical and outpatient care, x-ray and laboratory services. All specialty services are available, some, 1 hr away in Williams Lake OR two hours away in Kamloops.

100 Mile House and the surrounding area offers a wide variety of lifestyle activities for all seasons including numerous hiking trails, mountain biking, lakes for swimming, boating, fishing. There is hunting, snow shoeing and XC skiing. Mt. Timothy ski hill is a very popular winter destination approximately an hour away. A card lock gym is a few minutes walk down the lane from the clinic, and if you’re hockey fans, there is a hockey arena (home of the 100 Mile Wranglers) as well as a curling rink. In summer, the 108 Resort boasts an excellent 18 hole golf course, and tennis courts. In addition, the town has a vibrant arts community, a performance theatre and an art gallery. There are numerous restaurants in and out of town, as well as several popular coffee shops, one of which is around the corner from the Clinic.
