Role and Facility Information
Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is looking to expand its Emergency Medicine group and is looking for certified individuals (FRCPC (Emergency Medicine), CCFP (EM), or ABEM) to join our collegial team. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, full-service ED where you will see everything from trauma cases to reductions.
We currently have a strong team of 15 emergency physicians with an additional group of locums who support approximately 60,000 visits annually through our department. There is excellent specialist support available as well as CT and MRI on-site, and at least double physician coverage for most of the day and evenings. We have an ICU with excellent internist support, as well as regional or local coverage for urology, ophthalmology, and ENT. We have a PCI centre, Level II Trauma Centre, and other sub-specialties easily available to us just 40 minutes down the valley. We are proud to be a new site for UBC’s Family Medicine residency program and you will have the opportunity to make an impact on medical students and residents.
Tucked within the Okanagan Valley's mountains and lakes, Vernon Jubilee Hospital has approximately 196 beds available, serving more than 11,000 people admitted and nearly 13,000 surgeries annually. Our emergency department has more than 30 beds and two trauma bays. Full-time positions of 12 shifts per month and the option for part-time locum coverage are available, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position. Our physician group values the balance of work and lifestyle, and we are hoping to expand our team with the goal of enhanced shift coverage and introducing a sabbatical program.
Only a 30-minute drive from the Kelowna International Airport, this is an opportunity to enjoy the North Okanagan's exceptional recreation and culture with world-class biking, skiing, boating, wineries, beaches, hiking, golf and rock climbing. Apply today to live, work and play where others only vacation! It's better here!
