Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health (FH) is the heart of health care for nearly two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.

Our hospital and community-based services are delivered by a team of 48,000+ staff, medical staff and volunteers dedicated to serving our patients, families, and communities.

We are looking for one generalist OBGYN interested in working in a community hospital with 6-7 home call 24-hour shifts monthly. We are a close group of physicians and would prefer someone who excels at working as part of a supportive community of practice.

Our group of three obstetricians-gynaecologists provide primary and consultative maternity care and work closely with excellent family practice and midwifery colleagues. There is the option to supervise elective medical students with the University of British Columbia if desired. There is opportunity to share existing office space, as all of us practice out of the same office.

Nestled amid the scenic beauty of the Fraser River and the Golden Ears Mountains, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows provides a mild climate, numerous schools and playgrounds (inclusive of both public and top-tier private options) and a thriving arts community. The region is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering popular activities such as horse riding, biking, and hiking with an extensive network of trails spanning hundreds of kilometres. Additionally, residents can enjoy water-centric activities like canoeing, water skiing, fishing, and swimming right in the local area.

As part of metro Vancouver, Maple Ridge is a mix of big city and mountain town with close proximity to Vancouver International Airport (38 kms) as well as a 15-minute drive from the pristine trails and camping of Golden Ears Provincial Park.

Physician locums and advanced learners often comment on our exceptional collegiality, culture and interest in quality improvement and support for each other. Fraser Health Authority is routinely one of BC’s top employers and provides many funded opportunities for career growth and development.

We look forward to working with the candidate who is the right fit, to deliver both maternity care and gynecology services in the long term with which our patients, staff and physicians can share a sense of pride.

Please forward a letter of interest, CV and three reference letters or referee contact names to medicalstaffrecruitment@fraserhealth.ca by no later than December 19, 2024. Anticipated start January 1, 2025 or as soon as interviews are conducted.
