Subspecialty Palliative Medicine

Role and Facility Information

Our team is looking for a compassionate part-time (0.8 FTE) Palliative Care Physician. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians and our multidisciplinary team to provide Most Responsible Provider (MRP) coverage at McKenney Creek Hospice, and consultation services to acute care and community-based patients.

Throughout the Fraser Health Authority we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 126 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.

Qualifications:

- Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.
- Certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below:
- One-year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- Two-year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.

Facility: Ridge Meadows Hospital

Ridge Meadows Hospital has 172 acute care beds. As a community hospital, it provides primary and secondary acute care and specialty services including 24/7 emergency, ambulatory care, day surgery, general and internal medicine, rehabilitation, maternity care, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, critical care, pharmacy, medical imaging, and a medical laboratory for both inpatient and outpatient needs. The site also offers a continuum of adult psychiatric and social services available on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Ridge Meadows Hospital is the local community hospital for both Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, but with the network nature of Fraser Health’s care community, local residents access services at Ridge Meadows Hospital as well as other Fraser Health hospitals.
