Subspecialty Palliative Medicine

Role and Facility Information

Our team is looking for a compassionate part-time (0.8 FTE) palliative care physicians. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians and our multidisciplinary team to provide Most Responsible Provider (MRP) coverage at Christine Morrison Hospice and consultation services to acute care and community-based patients.

 

Throughout the Fraser Health Authority we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 126 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.

 

Qualifications:

Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.
Certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below:
One-year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada. 
Two-year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.

 

Facility: Mission Memorial Hospital

Mission Memorial Hospital is a 50-bed, community hospital with a 10-bed hospice. It provides primary acute care services including 24/7 emergency, outpatient and inpatient services, general medicine, laboratory and diagnostic services.

In addition to acute care services, Mission Memorial Hospital is integrated with and supported by a network of community-based programs and services ranging from home health, public health, mental health and substance use to residential and hospice care. Considered the local community hospital for the District of Mission, Mission Memorial serves mostly its local residents and surrounding communities.

The close proximity of Mission Memorial Hospital to Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre provides local residents easy access to a full range of secondary acute care and specialty services available at Abbotsford Regional such as maternal, child, youth services, mental health and substance use and surgical specialties.

Mission
