Role and Facility Information
As a Community Psychiatrist at The Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients with a broad range of mental health conditions. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based mental health care in a modern clinical environment. Whether providing psychiatric consultations, managing chronic mental illness, developing treatment plans, or supporting preventative mental health initiatives, your expertise will play an essential role in improving the health and well-being of the Mission community.
Responsibilities:• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.• Manage patients with acute and chronic mental health conditions.• Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications.• Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy and other appropriate treatment modalities where applicable.• Collaborate with family physicians, allied health professionals, and community resources to ensure coordinated patient care.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records.• Participate in virtual consultations when appropriate.
Qualifications:• Medical degree from a medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.• Successful completion of accredited postgraduate training in Psychiatry.• Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Psychiatry or equivalent specialist qualifications recognized for licensure in British Columbia.• Eligibility for Full or Provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
