The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) invites applications for an ID Physician with a special interest in program evaluation/quality improvement. It is expected that the physician recruited will also be recommended for a Clinical Faculty position with the University of British Columbia, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, based at VGH, which is a part of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in Infectious Diseases. They must have formal training and/or strong clinical experience and/or interest in in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal infections, including prosthetic joint infection, osteomyelitis, and diabetic foot infections. They will be expected to help develop and lead a program designed to improve and optimize care for patients with these conditions. The successful candidate will show demonstrated potential for excellence in working with a diverse patient population who have acute/chronic disease. The candidate would also demonstrate experience in quality improvement/research in evaluating the outcomes of programs and/or improving care. The candidate must be able to collaborate with other divisions – particularly orthopedics and vascular surgery – and allied health. The successful candidate will be a full member of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Vancouver General Hospital with participation on the general Infectious Diseases consult service and the after-hours and/or weekend call pool. This will include inpatient and outpatient care responsibilities. They will also be expected to participate in the undergraduate as well as postgraduate teaching activities of the Division and Department. There will also be opportunities for clinical research.
This position will primarily be a clinical appointment at Vancouver General Hospital within the Division of Infectious Diseases. The appointment will commence in the 2024-2025 academic year.
