Come work as Critical Care and General Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) Divisions of Cardiology invite applications from outstanding early career cardiologists with fellowship training in cardiac critical care. This position is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) in conjunction with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academically focused career based on either a strong track record and commitment to education scholarship or a strong publication and research track record, signaling their ability to obtain peer reviewed grant funding within the early phase of their career.
The cardiac intensive care units at Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital are a Level 1 quaternary referral center for the province and manages complex patients with advanced heart failure, congenital heart disease, complex arrhythmias and acute coronary syndromes. We work closely and collaboratively with other critical care colleagues and provide access to clinical rotations in cardiac critical care to medical students and residents from multiple specialties within the Faculty of Medicine at UBC.
The Divisions of Cardiology are actively involved in the care of patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease with catchment from throughout British Columbia. The General Cardiology Program at Vancouver General Hospital is growing and now requires another recruit to support its activities and further expansion. Foundationally, applicants must have specific interest and aptitude in General Cardiology, as they will primarily be involved in the cardiac care of ambulatory patients.
Applicants must possess FRCPC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia. Candidates should possess exceptional communication and teaching skills.
This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology education and/or research programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT).

Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Mandatory
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory
