Role and Facility Information

Come work as a Craniofacial Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Division of Plastic Surgery in conjunction with Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health in Vancouver is accepting applications for a full-time permanent position with a focus on adult craniofacial trauma and reconstruction.

Applicants must have subspecialty fellowship training in a Plastic Surgery subspecialty with emphasis on adult craniofacial surgery. Experience and training in head and neck reconstruction including microsurgery would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to cover full time general plastic surgery call within the division and be comfortable with tertiary level plastic surgery trauma and reconstruction. The hospital services, together with the University of British Columbia Division of Plastic Surgery and the University of British Columbia Department of Surgery are involved in undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education programs.
Available resources include access to the main Operating Room, Minor Treatment Room, and a hospital-based clinic.

Applicants must be certified in Plastic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada), and be eligible for licensure by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The successful applicant must qualify for and will be recommended for a Clinical Faculty Position in the University of British Columbia, Department of Surgery. They will be expected to be involved in clinical teaching at all levels and research.

Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Eligible
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
• Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
• Surgical Skills - Mandatory


Applications must include a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, a description of previous academic experience and of training relevant to the position, as well as of additional specialty training, if any, and three professional references. Applications will be accepted until 30 November 2024.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
