Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room- Surgical Suite


As of April 1, 2024 this position may qualify for a one-time recruitment incentive up to $15,000, $20,000 or $30,000 (subject to funding availability).



What you’ll do

Provide nursing care in accordance with the Nursing Department's philosophy, conceptual framework, and standards of practice.
Function as a member of the health team by; identifying patient needs and consulting with members of other health care disciplines as necessary, communicating patient-related information to health team members through documentation in the patient's chart and the provision of written and/or oral reports and participating in interdisciplinary rounds.
Function as scrub nurse/circulator/PAR nurse for operations and special procedures.
Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to Agency policies and Clinic/Nursing Department directives.
Assist the patient in interpretation of the treatment plan and ensure patients and families are aware of services available at the Agency and in the community.

What you bring


Qualifications:

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You have:

Demonstrated relevant clinical knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice.
Demonstrated ability to utilize clinical and information technology to enhance patient care in accordance with agency policies.
Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients, the public and all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
