Role and Facility Information
The Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with advanced training in PET/SPECT wishing to pursue a research focused career. This position is primarily based at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH) in conjunction with a potential clinical role at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC) affiliated teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academic career with a research focus.
The applicant must have Level 3 training in PET/SPECT imaging along with the associated Board certification. They should demonstrate the skills, enthusiasm and ability to work collaboratively with a multi-specialty and multi-disciplinary team to establish a PET program at the new St. Paul’s Hospital. This will involve partnership with the Department of Radiology and focused attention on items such as protocol development, workflow optimization, reporting processes, staff education, database development and quality assurance as they relate to cardiac nuclear imaging.
In addition to above, the successful candidate will support in-patient cardiac care including the ward-based cardiology consult service. Interest and training in the management of patients with cardiomyopathy, microvascular dysfunction and cardio-oncology would be an asset. Leveraging expertise in imaging to advance care in these clinical domains is an area of particular interest for the Division of Cardiology.
Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.
Candidates should possess exceptional communication and research skills, as they will be expected to develop a collaborative research program in Nuclear Cardiology, and partnerships to support multi-modal imaging. Applicants will be able to demonstrate a deep awareness and knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles, and how they relate to successful interactions with patients and team members.
This role will also be clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.
