Role and Facility Information

The Divisions of Cardiology and Critical Care invite applications from outstanding cardiologists with fellowship training in critical care wishing to pursue a research focused career. This position is based at St. Paul’s Hospital which is a University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospital. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academically focused career based on a strong publication and research track record in an area which spans cardiac sciences and critical care, signaling their ability to obtain peer reviewed grant funding within the early phase of their career.

This is a joint position between the Divisions of Cardiology and Critical Care and would include clinical for the province and manages complex patients with advanced heart failure, congenital heart disease, complex arrhythmias and acute coronary syndromes. Critical care at Providence supports clinical and research programs in sepsis, advanced hemodynamics and renal care, and has recently begun to focus upon the long-term effects of critical care upon survivors. The Divisions work closely and collaboratively providing access to clinical rotations in cardiac critical care and critical care generally to learners from multiple specialties.

Applicants must possess RCPSC designation in Cardiology and Critical Care or their equivalents and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research and possess exceptional work ethics and collegiality.

This role will be a clinical faculty position within the Divisions of Cardiology and Critical Care at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The successful candidate is expected to support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology and Critical Care research and education programs. The Divisions will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.
