Position Summary
Within the context of a patient and family-centered model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care (“Providence”), the Division of Nephrology is seeking a kidney transplant nephrologist at Providence Health Care.
The successful candidate will join a group of nephrologists who are members of the Division of Nephrology at Providence Health and the University of British Columbia and work for the Kidney Transplant Program; a provincial program delivered through 2 hospital sites in Vancouver BC (St. Paul’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital).
Applicants will work across 2 sites in Vancouver, St Paul's Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital, with primary assignment at St. Paul’s Hospital, Providence Health Care.
We are seeking applicants with expertise in the evaluation and management of kidney and pancreas transplant patients.
Clinical responsibilities include providing clinical care for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient services as a transplant nephrologist, donor allocation call, and interdisciplinary team meetings. Research and scholarship responsibilities are encouraged and may include developing and/or maintaining clinical research, clinical areas of expertise, and quality improvement of administrative programs related to transplantation.
Exposure to medical students, residents, nephrology fellows, and transplant fellows is an expected component of responsibility, in teaching, rounds and other capacities. The role includes clinical, education and academic activities, and where applicable involvement with a research program focused in an area related to renal transplantation Applicants will work across 2 sites in Vancouver, St Paul's Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital, with primary assignment at one institution
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have successfully achieved Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in internal medicine and nephrology and be eligible for a full license to practice nephrology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Additional training in kidney and pancreas transplantation methods including donor and recipient evaluation, in-patient and outpatient management of early and long-term kidney transplant patients is required for this position. Higher level training in research methods is desirable.
