Role and Facility Information

In alignment with the established vision and values of the organization, the Physician is responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The Physician independently manages a broad range of health conditions, initiates medical treatment plans, and prescribes medications in accordance with provincial and federal regulations, licensing standards, and organizational policies and procedures.

Working both autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Physician collaborates with nurses, allied health professionals, and traditional knowledge holders to ensure coordinated, culturally appropriate care. The Physician refers patients to specialists or other providers as needed and provides clinical guidance and mentorship to other health team members as appropriate.

In addition to direct patient care, the Physician engages with patients, families, and community members to identify broader health trends and needs. The role includes developing and supporting evidence-informed, community driven strategies aimed at improving individual and population
health outcomes. The Physician may also contribute to organizational policy development and quality improvement initiatives, and is expected to participate in peer review, self assessment, and continuing education to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and culturally responsive care.

Community assets, lifestyle, and practice opportunities:

This is a unique and meaningful opportunity for a physician who is looking to make a lasting difference within a culturally rich and resilient Indigenous community (Westbank First
Nation). The role offers a deep sense of purpose and connection. As a physician in this setting, you will have the privilege of providing care that is both patient-centered and culturally grounded, working closely with community members to support their health and well-being.

The clinic operates within a small-team model, allowing for continuity of care and the development of strong relationships with patients and families.

This position is ideal for a physician who is open-minded, relationship-focused, and committed to providing care that is respectful of Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and experiences. It suits someone who appreciates the value of working in close partnership with communities and who is drawn to a practice that emphasizes trust, continuity, and culturally informed models of care. Whether you are seeking your first opportunity to work in community-based care or bringing years of experience to a new setting, this role offers the chance to engage meaningfully and contribute to long-term community wellness
