Role and Facility Information

Position Details:

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Short Stay Unit (SSU) Nurse Practitioner (NP) cares for patients at the 58 bed Cottonwoods Care Home, usually for less than three months, who require care as follows:

• Convalescent care is provided to clients with defined and stable care needs who require a supervised environment for reactivation or recuperation, usually prior to discharge home, and most commonly following an acute episode of care.

• Respite care provides a client’s main caregiver a period of relief, or to provide a client with a period of supported care to increase their independence.

In this position, the NP performs pertinent physical examinations and clinical evaluations, manages clinical care, performs procedures, orders and reviews diagnostic studies, orders, and monitors medications, and participates in short-term and long-term planning of patient care. This is an autonomous position with collaboration, consultation and referrals to physicians and other members of the health care team. Requires credentialing and

privileging into medical staff of IH NP Regional Department.

As NP you will be most responsible provider (MRP) to the patients admitted.

• This is a Permanent Part-Time Position 0.40 FTE

• On-call may be required.

On call expected - group to be determined.

Candidates with 2 years NP clinical experience, SSU, hospitalist or rehab experience are preferred.

*There is a temporary 1.0 FTE position also available at Cottonwoods Care Home*

Salary range for the position is $76.61/hour - $84.27/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or equivalent.

Certification: Current Nurse Practitioner certification with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage patient care is considered an asset.
