Role and Facility Information

Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to join our welcoming rural practice in beautiful Midway, BC from August 15 through October 31

This is an excellent opportunity to build the practice you want within an established, low-overhead clinic while enjoying an exceptional work-life balance. Whether you are seeking a flexible locum experience or exploring a longer-term practice opportunity, Midway offers the chance to provide meaningful rural family medicine in a supportive community setting.

The bright, fully equipped clinic includes two examination rooms, a procedure room, spacious physician office space, and is supported by an experienced MOA, a part-time PCN Registered Nurse, a Primary Care Assistant, and access to allied health supports. The clinic uses the MedAccess EMR, with training and support available, and Mikata AI Scribe is available for physicians who wish to use it.

The practice is highly flexible and can be tailored to your interests, including office-based family practice, telehealth, home visits, and optional care at Parkview Manor seniors’ residence. Physicians may practice under the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model or other eligible compensation arrangements.

This clinic is operated by Prima Health Cooperative. Prima is a not for profit health care clinical service supporting clinics for administrative supports including: billing, HR, EMR management, and other operational needs. Day to day operational decisions are managed by the providers working within the clinic along with the Lead MOA.

Prima Health (www.primahealth.ca) provides Clinic Management Services with physician clinics wishing to receive more support in managing the business side of running their primary care clinic.
Prima Health:
relieves physicians of the administrative burdens of running a practice;
engages in the practice of continuous administrative improvement, implementing systems and structures to improve efficiency;
supports team-based care; and
facilitates engagement with community to build stronger connection between the clinic and local primary care needs.
There is a significant need for primary care services in the community, providing the opportunity to assume an established patient panel and develop a rewarding rural practice. Opportunities may be available for inpatient, and long-term care work at Boundary District Hospital in Grand Forks, though these are entirely optional. A typical 3–4 day work week allows plenty of time to enjoy the lifestyle the region has to offer.

For physicians interested in a long-term opportunity, there is the option for a future permanent position at the clinic. Why not try locuming first to see if it is a good fit? This opportunity is ideal for a physician looking to establish roots in a welcoming rural community while maintaining flexibility and autonomy in their practice.

Located between Grand Forks and Osoyoos, Midway offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere, a sunny climate, and easy access to hiking, biking, skiing, golfing, fishing, paddling, and the historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail. Community amenities include a pharmacy, public health services, home care, community paramedics, grocery store, hardware store, RCMP detachment, seniors’ residence, airport, arena, and golf course. Midway is situated on the Canada–U.S. border and provides convenient access to both the Okanagan and Kootenay regions. Larger centres including Kelowna, Penticton, Rossland, and Trail are all within a two-hour drive.

Midway Medical Clinic has proudly served the community for over 35 years and is known for its collaborative, patient-centred approach. This is an ideal opportunity for a physician seeking meaningful rural practice, strong community connections, and an outstanding quality of life.
