This an exciting opportunity to be part of the primary care team in a new Community Health Centre located in one of Canada’s most uniquely appealing island communities. Be on the ground floor of establishing a team-based primary care unit in a new, purpose-built 10,500 sq ft facility on Bowen Island. Bowen is a small, family-friendly community of 4,000, just a 20-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay. It combines a spectacular natural setting and idyllic West Coast island lifestyle with easy access to the city of Vancouver and nearby recreational and cultural amenities.
By providing turnkey administrative support to your practice, Bowen’s CHC model will allow you to focus entirely on patient care, while our team-based approach will let you and your patients access a diverse in-house team of healthcare professionals. The plan for the CHC includes:
• expanded team-based longitudinal primary care services
• low barrier rural urgent primary care services
• diagnostic services
• laboratory sample collection
• home health support
• mental health & addiction services
The CHC facility will also house allied health professionals, dental practice, health navigator, and provide a centre to host a diverse array of health and social services. An established pharmacy is also located on Bowen.
The establishment of the CHC is currently being led by the Board of the Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation and an Executive Director. The Board successfully raised $6M from the local community for construction of the facility – a measure of how passionately people on Bowen support their new health centre.
