Bowen Island Community Health Centre is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary Team-Based care team. The Nurse Practitioner would work as a family practitioner alongside physicians to attach patients and manage their own patient panel on Bowen Island as well as a small number of same-day urgent care patients. The Health Centre is a Ministry strategy-funded Community Health Centre and is mandated to help address primary care and social determinants of health on Island. Two positions are available: a permanent part-time position and a temporary position providing coverage for parental leave.

Payment Model: Salary and Benefits. Employed by Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation which has a service agreement with Vancouver Coastal Health
Primary Care Team: Funded for 3.0 FTE Physicians and 1.0 FTE NP and Medical Lead. Allied Health and Team Supports: PCN Affiliation. Clinic funded for 2 in-practice RNs, 1 Mental Health Counsellor, 1 Social Worker, 2 Community Health Coordinators/Navigators, 1 Indigenous Cultural Safety Worker, 0.5 Dietician, 0.5 Physiotherapist, 3 MOAs, 1 Office Manager, and 1 Executive Director
Services Offered: Longitudinal Family Practice with walk-in capacity for same day urgent appointments for those on Island regardless of attachment. Virtual Health capability in building. Home visits as needed. Mandate of clinic extends beyond primary care. Physicians, NP and allied health workers also work to address social determinants of health on Island.

Practice Details: Brand new 4,500 sf primary care practice with new furniture and modern equipment. Each practitioner will have access to 2 exam rooms and shared use of large office space, consult room and procedure room per shift. Dedicated space for patient education, telehealth, counselling and urgent primary care.
Drop-down capacity for visiting specialists and VCH outreach services.
Next to a forest park. Short walk to village centre and ferry terminal.
Hospital & ED Shifts: None. Nearest hospital is Lions Gate Hospital (20 min ferry ride and 20 km drive away). Bowen Island has BC Ambulance service which is not dependent on Ferry for access to Hospital.
