We are seeking a qualified FP-Anesthetist for to provide 0.5 FTE Anesthesia services at Bulkley Valley District Hospital (BVDH). Explore diverse career paths with the option to engage in primary care, emergency medicine, obstetrics, addictions, or pain medicine. In addition, you have the opportunity to contribute to the education of future physicians by teaching with UBC Medicine.

BVDH currently schedules 7 OR days per week, plus one anesthesia consultation day per week. There is a possibility that OR services will be extended to 8 OR days per week in the next year. Anesthetists are responsible for:
- elective OR slates
- anesthetic consultations
- obstetric anesthesia (240 deliveries per year on average) including epidurals and Caesarean sections, and assisting with neonatal resuscitations.
- consultations to the ER for resuscitations, procedural sedations, and procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and LPs.

The anesthesia group values mutual support, a highly positive work environment, and scheduling flexibility. This position is not suitable for someone who wants to work full time anesthesia.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 24 bed acute care facility providing emergency/outpatient, medical, surgical, maternity and palliative care services, and has one psychiatric observation unit. The facility supports home and community care services, a strong community cancer clinic, and a diverse visiting specialist/surgeon program. It also offers laboratory and radiology (x-ray, mammography, ultrasound), and pediatrics services.
