Welcome to Kitimat’s economic boom times – spearheaded by Canada’s largest private investment – the $40-billion energy megaproject – LNG Canada (Liquefied Natural Gas). The natural gas export terminal will be built in Kitimat bringing hundreds of people and at least 4,500 workers at the peak of LNG construction in 2021. With the community’s population hovering at around 9,000 residents, there are work camps set up to accommodate the influx of workers. The LNG Canada could mean $22 billion in revenue to B.C.’s economy over 40 years. It could also mean hundreds of jobs in construction and operation of the plant, a corresponding natural gas pipeline, and service and retail businesses.

Northern Health is seeking a General Practitioner Anesthetist with ER skills to provide primary care for half of the time, anesthesia about 40% of the time and cover some ER shifts. If you have passion for rural healthcare and desire to experience the Pacific Northwest lifestyle, this position may be for you!

Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre integrates acute care, residential care, public health and community health in one facility. The hospital contains 20 acute care beds, including 2 maternity beds. The GPAs provide anesthesia services for Orthopedics, Obstetrics, and other visiting surgeons.

Public Health Team

Kitimat General Hospital hosts a regular rotation of visiting specialists in internal medicine, urology, ENT, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology and radiology.
