Role and Facility Information
The South Island Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a part-time (0.2 FTE) Psychiatrist to join an Intensive Case Management (ICM) team. The successful candidate will provide psychiatric assessment, case formulation, and medication management to patients with severe substance use and concurrent disorders. The patient population will be based in South Island (Victoria), and include adult patients either experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Services are to be provided on-site in Island Health and community and housing facilities, as well as by virtual care and by phone.
The successful candidate will be a member of and work collaboratively with other members of the ICM Team. They will provide psychiatric services within a community based outreach team, in collaboration with other physicians and health professionals, including, but not limited to addiction medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers and nurses. As well, the Psychiatrist will work with internal Island Health stakeholders and community based external agencies (such as the Victoria Cool Aid Society).
The successful candidate will provide psychiatric services as a member of the Intensive Care Management (ICM) team for at least 44 weeks per year.
On call responsibility is mandatory for Island Health psychiatry services.
As Island Health is part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program there is opportunity for training of medical students and residents and applying for a clinical appointment is expected.
Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all departmental, clinical and operational team meetings and take on a lead role when required.

All part-time Psychiatry positions can be combined with available other part-time positions to create a rewarding and diverse full-time Psychiatry practice.
