Role and Facility Information

The Victoria Department of Psychiatry are looking for a General Psychiatrist to provide part-time services at the new Complex Care Outreach Team (CCOT) in Victoria. The patient population includes adults either experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Major goals of service include psychiatric and medical stabilization and supporting individuals to maintain housing.

The successful candidate will provide psychiatric services within a community based outreach team, in collaboration with other physicians and health professionals, including, but not limited to addiction medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers and nurses. The physician will be a member of and work collaboratively with other members of the CCOT. The physician will collaborate with internal Island Health partners and with community based external agencies and stakeholders.

Services to be provided include: psychiatric assessment, case formulation, care planning, regular care review, follow up, and medication management for patients with a full range of psychiatric disorders and comorbidities, including severe substance use disorders.

The physician will be expected to work on-site in Island Health facilities, and provide outreach services to community and housing facilities. Some clinical work may be provided by virtual care formats.

Participation in the South Island General Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of this position.

Involvement in the Island Medical Program undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program is encouraged. A University of BC affiliated appointment and membership in the Division of General Psychiatry is available.

Additional Information

Part-time positions can be combined with other available part-time positions to create a rewarding and diverse full-time Psychiatry practice.
