Role and Facility Information

Island Health has an opportunity for a full time Pediatrician in the community at Cowichan District Hospital.

The Cowichan District Hospital is a 148-bed acute care facility, enjoys an exceptionally collegial atmosphere amongst the general and specialty medical staff. Duncan is a thriving young community with ample opportunities for a varied pediatric practice.

Join a collegial medical staff of Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General & Subspecialty Internists, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pathology, and Radiology.

A new Cowichan District Hospital, which will feature state of the art equipment and design, is expected to be completed in 2027 and will bring added inpatient capacity in excess of 203 beds, as well as expanded OR and ICU capacity.

Members are affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program and provide teaching to medical students and residents.

The successful candidate will hold FRCPC or be FRCPC eligible and eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement (RSA) including:

Relocation Costs up to $15,000;

Recruitment Incentive $10,000;

Fee Premium 4.20%

Annual Flat fee $4,834.80

Rural CME starting at 3,000/annum in Years 3 & 4 increasing to a maximum of $6000/annum after 4 years

Duncan
