We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator of the Operating Room, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the frame work of quality management and in accordance with the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital mission statement. The role is defined by the needs of the Hospital, a select patient/family population, agency expectations and the goals for professional nursing practice.
AORN Perioperative Nursing Program Details Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) The American Operating Room Nurse’s (AORN) Periop-101 course is a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills. The course and practicum will prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care at a novice level.
•There are 2 training positions available for 2023/2024
•Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
•Learners should expect to make a 6 – 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
•Additional study time, outside of schedule hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
•Flexibility for practicums is necessary
•Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
•Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
•Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided.

Qualifications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Completion of a post-graduate perioperative nursing course, or two (2) years recent experience in an equivalent setting with a minimum of two (2) years of OR/PARR Nursing experience.

• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team.
• Ability to communicate, and maintain good public relations with family and friends of patients.
