Role and Facility Information

Prince Rupert is actively looking for locums for our Unattached Inpatient Coverage program. This program covers unattached patients while they are admitted to hospital and is covered a week at a time by a single physician. Patients are seen and worked up in the ER with admission orders written by the Emergency Physician. Patients are transferred to the unattached inpatient program the following morning and followed from that point by the unattached inpatient program. Patient case load is generally 12-16 patients per day.

Dates are available and customizable from August through December 2024. Our highest needs are currently August 26 to September 8. Locums may tailor their experience in Prince Rupert by engaging in Emergency shifts or community office practice locums.

Prince Rupert Regional Hospital has 26 inpatient beds offering a full range of services including: Emergency (22,000 visits per year), Acute care, Radiology, Internal medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, General surgery, Psychiatry and Pediatrics.

Prince Rupert

Prince Rupert is the largest city in northwestern British Columbia and a gateway to the Queen Charlotte Islands, the famed Inside Passage and smaller towns in the area. Amidst fjords, rain forests, lagoons, and sandy beaches, Prince Rupert is surprisingly cosmopolitan with all the modern conveniences of a larger city, including a performing arts centre, restaurants and a lively nightlife. The area is also perfect for learning about the history and customs of local First Nations people, and one-of-a-kind wilderness exploration and wildlife viewing experiences.
