Role and Facility Information

Excellent family practice opportunity located adjacent to Port Hardy Hospital, within a modern and growing group practice in a fully owned and operated Island Health facility. This is an exciting opportunity to practice comprehensive rural medicine and collaborate with neighbouring rural physicians to provide full-spectrum primary care and emergency services throughout the Mount Waddington region. Join four full-time physician and Nurse Practitioner colleagues within a strong team-based care model at Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre, where care is delivered collaboratively alongside Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, and visiting specialists who provide outreach services to enhance access to specialty care in the community. This interdisciplinary environment supports continuity of care, shared workload, and improved patient outcomes.

The Emergency Services department and 12-bed acute care hospital offer a broad scope of services including Aboriginal Health, adult inpatient and outpatient care, rehabilitation services, laboratory services, medical ambulatory care, medical imaging including general radiology and ultrasound, 21 residential care beds, and low-risk Indigenous midwifery maternity services.

Hours of Work

Primary Health Care Centre Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm with rotating walk-in clinics on Saturdays.

On-call and coverage at Port Hardy Hospital inpatient and Emergency Room, with Long-term-care services for patients.
