This UPCC opened its doors in December 2021 thanks to an ongoing partnership between Interior Health, the EK Division of Family Practice, and the Ktunaxa Nation. This UPCC operates within ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa, the homeland of the Ktunaxa people.
This UPCC is not just a place of work; it is a fast paced, dynamic and supportive environment where professional growth is as much a priority as patient care. Team based care is at the heart of how we operate. Each member plays an integral part, contributing their unique skills to our patient-centric approach. This is evidenced through:
• Clinic opening and closing huddles,
• Weekly quality improvement huddles,
• Team and profession specific meetings which support our communication and collaborative decision making.
Team development is supported through:
• Monthly team based care training sessions,
• lunch and learns
• Daily team collaboration
• The Nurse Practitioners and Family Physicians leading and participating in monthly McMaster learning modules.
The Nurse Practitioner will be joining an interdisciplinary team comprising Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse Team Leads, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Mental Wellness Clinician, Medical Office Assistants and leadership support.
This UPCC operates Monday-Friday 08.30-20.00 and from February 14th will be open 08.30- 19.00 at weekends. The clinic also serves as a hub for allied health staff who provide services to primary care clinics at this location and the Encompass Pregnancy Care Clinic.
The Nurse Practitioners have a Nurse Practitioner Lead and utilize a flexible scheduling system “When I work” to cover shifts, swap shifts etc.
