Role and Facility Information
We are seeking General Internists to join a dedicated team of specialists and family physicians serving the diverse population of Terrace and surrounding communities. This is an exciting opportunity to practice full-spectrum Internal Medicine in a collegial environment, with a broad and meaningful scope of work.
The successful candidate will provide:
• ICU coverage
• Inpatient and regional consultation services
• Outpatient Internal Medicine clinics
Practice Structure & Schedule
• Inpatient Schedule: Divided by weeks with two options:
• A split service model where two providers share call and clinical responsibilities (2:5 global coverage)
• A single-provider model where one provider covers all call and service for the week (1:5 global coverage – this can be very busy)
• Outpatient Work: Managed through the provider’s private clinic and scheduled at their discretion
Subspecialty Support & Case Mix
• Subspecialty Support: While there are no in-community subspecialists, we are well-supported by remote telephone advice across all subspecialties. Additionally, visiting specialists such as Neurologists, Rheumatologists, and ENT physicians provide intermittent in-person support.
• Typical Cases: The case mix is broad and encompasses the full spectrum of General Internal Medicine. Patients in the North are often underserved and present with more advanced pathology. GIM physicians are typically the first point of contact for specialized care, with subspecialists involved as needed.
• Required Skills: Full-spectrum GIM skillset including acute intensive care, acute cardiology, procedures, and broad inpatient and outpatient consultative capabilities.
We encourage interested candidates to consider a locum placement first, if possible.

Terrace is situated on the traditional territory of the Ts'msyen or “Tsimshian” people. Ts’msyen means “Inside the Skeena River” and the community is built at the confluence of the Kitsumkalum River into the Skeena River. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community.
Outside of work, you can enjoy the exceptional outdoor recreational activities offered by the Pacific Northwest. From mountain biking, hiking, paddling, fishing, cross country and downhill skiing, world class ski touring, trail running, and nearby lakes, there’s no shortage of outdoor opportunities in Terrace.
