Northern Health is seeking Emergency Physicians to provide LOCUM Emergency Room coverage in the beautiful Skeena Valley in Terrace.
Shift details:
Day Shift - 08:00-16:00
- 2 physicians on shift
- weekday rate: $2589 (CCFP) or $2855 (CCFP-EM)
- weekend rate: $2826-2885 (CCFP) or $3092-3152 (CCFP-EM)
Evening Shift - 16:00-00:00
- 2 physicians on shift
- weekday rate: $2779-2862 (CCFP) or $3045-3128 (CCFP-EM)
- weekend rate: $2838-2921 (CCFP) or $3104-3187 (CCFP-EM)
Night shift - 00:00-08:00
- 1 physician on shift
- weekday rate: $2921 (CCFP) or $3187 (CCFP-EM)
- weekend rate: $2921-2980 (CCFP) or $3187-3246 (CCFP-EM)
- rates are inclusive of RRP, after hours premiums and all direct and indirect patient care
Shifts may be extended to 16 hours if desired.
Travel, accommodation, and car rental are covered with a minimum of 24 hours of locum coverage provided. Travel stipend: $250 - $1,500 based on time. Maximum, $1,500 per round trip.
Kysen Regional Hospital has 24/7 XR and CT scanning, weekday MRI, weekday formal U/S, and a POCUS in the Emergency Department. The 5 bed ICU is adjacent to the ED providing easy access to IM/ ICU Physicians. We have excellent relationships with our specialist colleagues including Anesthesia, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, General Internal Medicine and Critical Care, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics in Terrace. We have intermittent Mental Health nursing and Social Work support. Mills Memorial Hospital is a regional centre and accepts transfers from across the Northwest.
Outside of work, you can enjoy the exceptional outdoor recreational activities offered by the Pacific Northwest. From mountain biking, hiking, paddling, river fishing, cross country and downhill skiing, world class ski touring, trail running, and near by lakes for water activities, there’s no shortage of outdoor opportunities in Terrace.
There is easy access to Terrace at YXT with multiple flights in and out of Terrace with Air Canada, WestJet and Central Mountain Air.
Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients in November 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, it is a center for trauma services, acute care, surgical services pathology, radiology, clinical support and pharmacy services for the Northwest region. The hospital staff prides itself on delivering culturally safe care to our Indigenous populations.

The new hospital will also include a Tier 3 neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery, which will provide community-based antenatal and postnatal services, education and parenting support to pregnant individuals.
The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program and residents through the UBC Family Medicine Residency Program.
