Island Health is seeking Family Physicians to join a supportive and congenial team providing unattached inpatient care at CRG on Northern Vancouver Island. This group functions similar to a Hospitalist program. CRG is affiliated with the University of British Columbia and the Strathcona Site Family Practice Residency Program with opportunities for teaching.

Campbell River General (CRG) in Campbell River, British Columbia is a 105 bed acute care, hospital, established October 2017.

Currently, CRG has a blend of family practice groups and inpatient care lines, who admit and manage their own patients. Each physician provides care for approximately 17-25 patients. Shift lengths are 5 to 7 days. Scheduling is flexible. Responsibilities include providing family medicine care to unattached and unassigned inpatients at CRG. While you are working you are on home-call overnight and when available you work with a UBC resident. The physician will report to the Division Head of Family Practice for their professional responsibilities.

The physician will work alongside colleagues in Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, community Family Medicine, Geriatric Psychiatry, General Surgery, Internal Medicine (general and sub-specialty who cover the 6 bed ICU), Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, Palliative care, Pediatrics, Radiology (U/S, CT, MRI, ECHO), and Addictions Medicine. Established links exist with tertiary care centres 1 hour away (Nanaimo) and 2.5 hours away (Victoria).

Benefits:

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):

Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)

Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)

Flat fee: $9,437.76

Fee Premium: 6.09%

CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community.

Campbell River has an approximate population of 36,000. Campbell River is a beautiful coastal town in the heart of the North Island. Enjoy exploring trails, whale-watching, seafood.

In addition, Campbell River General services the communities of Alert Bay, Campbell River, Cortes Island, Gold River, Kyuquot, Port Alice, Port Hardy, Port MacNeill, Sointula and Tahsis.
