Role and Facility Information

About Foundry

As operated by YMCA BC, belongs to the Foundry Provincial Network of Health Services for youth 12-24 years old. It offers integrated and low-barrier access to health and well-being functioning as a walk-in clinic.

Services for youth include primary care with physicians, a full-time nurse, psychiatry, counselors, peer supporters, therapeutic and recreational groups, social services, and parent-peer support for parents and caregivers.

While the YMCA is the lead agency, Foundry PG's services are delivered in partnership with the Prince George Primary Care Network, Northern Health, MCFD, FamilySmart, Qmunity, UNBC, CINHS, and more.

Regular hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 pm.

Services at Foundry

Primary care is regularly accessed for such things as mental health and substance use supports, OAT, contraception management, harm reduction, STI testing and treatment, minor injury, queries around neurodiversity, and gender-affirming care.

Northern Health's contribution to the partnership is in the form of 1 FTE Concurrent Disorders Clinician, and sessions for physicians.

Foundry Prince George currently offers walk-in primary care with 2 physicians for a total of 3 afternoons per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:30-5:00 pm) and 1 Gender Clinic Friday mornings (10-1 pm scheduled appointments).

Demand for these services is exceptionally high, and we regularly fill up within minutes of opening. Primary care is typically booked in half-hour increments and is most often sought in person with phone and virtual options available.

The Position

Foundry PG is looking to recruit a Nurse Practitioner to grow our primary care service delivery and support the youth seeking safe, non-judgmental, and person-centered care who access.

The position will be required to work Monday to Friday, with flexibility for start and end times during the day. There is no current requirement to work weekend shifts but Foundry PG does hope to extend service hours in the future to 6pm and on Saturdays with increased staffing and recruitment. An interest in OAT & gender-affirming care would be considered an asset.

To be successful you must be eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nursing and Midwives (BCCNM), and have completed or be eligible to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
