Role and Facility Information

Northern Health and The Department of Family Medicine are seeking Family Physicians to join an exciting new in-patient care opportunity in Prince George, B.C. The Primary Care Inpatient Service (PCIS) provides comprehensive, structured inpatient care for unattached or out-of-town patients at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC). This new, dynamic service is intended to be equitable, sustainable, and support physicians while also providing continuity of care at UHNBC.

Under the PCIS, patients are admitted under 1 of 5 lines. Each line is staffed in week-long assignments, with a provider for each different line. There is potential to split weeks as required. During assignments, providers will regularly review and provide care for patients that are admitted under their line.

Compensation Estimate: Daily stipend of $600. Each physician can choose to bill Fee-for-service (FFS) or work on the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) contract. Full-time for this position is 32 weeks per year. Other optional opportunities to practice are available, including longitudinal care, episodic and obstetrical care, contract work with the Urgent Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) and more.

• Active innovative EMR (Electronic Medical Record) community using our home grown MOIS system which has expanding capacity for obtaining reports and data to support your practice and patients.

Physicians can expand their skills and experience in many areas of interest. Training for such interests can be funded by the BC REAP (Rural Educational Action Plan).
