Role and Facility Information
Squamish is seeking family physicians to join our medical community. Family physicians in Squamish provide many services, and we are currently in need of physicians with interest/experience in obstetrics and/or sports medicine, and/or oncology, and/or emergency medicine to join our team. Squamish is a growing community approaching a population of 25,000 located in the scenic Sea to Sky Corridor.
In one clinic, there are currently seven family physicians, one RN, and four specialists (OBS/GYN, internal medicine, pediatrics, neonatology). Each family physician typically works 2-3 days per week in the office. The Squamish Medical Clinic office space includes a procedure room, a small kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower. They physicians use Intrahealth Profile electronic medical records. The office building in which the clinic is located also houses dentists, physiotherapists, orthopedic surgeons and a cast clinic.
Squamish General Hospital is a 16 inpatient bed rural hospital with an 11 bed emergency department and an obstetric ward that attends to almost 400 births/year. Local specialist back up includes FP Anesthetists and Obstetrician/Gynecologists, with access to Psychiatry, Orthopeadic, and Pediatric supports. There are three family practice clinics in town and a walk-in clinic which is jointly operated by our local family physicians. Squamish family physicians enjoy a diversity of practice, blending clinic and hospital work in a manner which affords patients significant continuity of care, and which ensures practitioners have the support of a robust, collegial medical community.
Squamish residents are privileged to live less than an hour from Whistler’s world-renowned downhill ski & snowboard terrain, and the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski area. Outside of ski season, mountain bike terrain of all kinds is easily accessible, while those who prefer climbing, hiking, kayaking, kiteboarding, sailing or paddle boarding, can easily stay entertained.
Consider all that a practice in the Sea to Sky corridor has to offer, whether for work or for play!
