Role and Facility Information

Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) is accepting applications for 2 Respirology physicians to join a group practice of inpatient and outpatient Respiratory medicine. SMH is a large community/academic hospital with over 600 beds, in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. We provide service to a population of over 500,000 and outlying communities as a tertiary referral center. The Respirology division consists of 8 full-time members and part time members. We have outpatient private clinics in addition to hospital affiliated subspecialty clinics in airways disease, rapid access and ILD. We have a full pulmonary function lab including cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Bronchoscopy, EBUS, indwelling pleural catheters and other interventional procedures are accessed through ambulatory daycare at SMH. We have direct access for referral to the FHA sleep lab. Our Inpatient consultative service provides respiratory consultative care but not MRP responsibilities. SMH provides regional Thoracic surgery services. Fraser Valley Cancer Centre is affiliated with our hospital. Surrey Memorial Hospital is affiliated with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine and Post Graduate Medical Education.

We wish to recruit full-time members trained in Respirology. Qualifications are:

• Fellowship in Respirology with the Royal College of physicians of Canada

• Eligible for independent license by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia

Candidates will be strongly considered with subspecialty training after completion of their respiratory medicine fellowship. They must have an active interest in the training of residents and medical students. Research interests and opportunities will be considered. Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills and dedication to service excellence will be considered a high priority.
