Subspecialty Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health, in collaboration with the UBC Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, is seeking a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist to fill a temporary position. This funded position will involve a variety of clinical care, academics, and include MFM on-call service in Fraser Health. Clinical work will include pre-conception and antenatal care for both inpatients and outpatients.

This is an excellent time for US-trained physicians to consider relocating, thanks to significant recent regulatory changes in British Columbia, as you are eligible for full speciality class licensure based on being certified as an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) member.

Fraser Health encompasses some of the fastest growing and diverse populations in Canada.  Stretching from Burnaby to Hope, it is home to approximately 18,000 deliveries per year. It encompasses two tertiary level hospitals with level 3 NICU and a state-of-the-art outpatient facility. The beautiful Fraser Valley exhibits all that British Columbia has to offer with beautiful mountain vistas, beaches and a plethora of outdoor activities.

Qualifications: 

-FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
-Completion of a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
-Eligible for, or full licensure with, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
-CMPA eligibility.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide pre-conception and antenatal care for both inpatient and outpatient populations
-Deliver evidence-based care in maternal medical and obstetrical complications
-Perform fetal diagnosis and procedures
-Demonstrate strong communication and consultation skills
-Utilize obstetrical ultrasound (sonography) skills as part of clinical care
-Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
-Participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program, including contributing to the teaching and training of medical learners, and applying for and maintaining a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC Division of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Compensation:

Alternate Payment Plan service contract

Anticipated start date: July 1, 2026 or sooner  

Appointment Term: Until July 1, 2027.
