Role and Facility Information
The Department of Psychiatry South Island has an opportunity for a Psychiatrist to provide inpatient and community consultation on Salt Spring Island. Key components of this position include:
- The position includes consultation for patients admitted to the 19 bed Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island.
- Outpatient treatment at Salt Spring Island Community Services, providing consultation to Severe and Chronically Mentally Ill, Urgent Short Term Assessment and Treatment, and Drug and Alcohol programs working with the case managers.
- Providing general Psychiatry services to adults in the community working with an inter-disciplinary team.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified psychiatrist with comfort practicing in a small community with less psychiatric infrastructure. Psychological mindedness, self-reflective capacity, and working understanding of boundaries are assets in a setting when one meets one’s patients on the street every day.

Benefits:
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 (full-time)
- Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Fee Premium: 7.98%
- Annual Flat Fee: $12,366.72
- Rural CME: starting at $3,000/annum in year 3 & 4 to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years.

- Primarily Fee for Service
- Sessional funding is also available for indirect clinical care and other non-insured services.
- Service contract arrangement is available if this is your preference

- Flexible working schedule available with up to full-time work.
- Looking to hire either part-time or full-time Psychiatrists with available work for 2.0 FTE
- Option to provide on-call services - MOCAP available for on-call services.
