Role and Facility Information

Lady Minto Hospital is seeking part-time family physicians to join our Emergency Department team. This is a highly valued and rewarding role in our well-supported rural community hospital.

Additional training in emergency medicine (CCFP-EM or FRCPC) is not required, however recent emergency experience is preferred and up-to-date ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification is needed. Flexible shifts are available with the understanding of a minimum of 6-8 shifts/month.

The ideal candidate is interested in joining a collaborative and tight-knit medical community and participating in other aspects of full-scope rural family medicine on Salt Spring, including family practice clinic or locums, inpatient care, and/or long-term care.

You'll receive excellent onboarding upon your arrival, helping you integrate smoothly into both the team and the community. Mentorship opportunities are also available.

About Lady Minto Hospital:

Lady Minto Hospital (LMH) is the primary hub for urgent and acute care, and houses many services, including medical imaging (X-ray), laboratory, low-risk obstetrics, internal medicine services, mental health, physiotherapy and pharmacy. BC Ambulance coordinates transfer of patients to larger centres by water taxi, ferry or helicopter when needed. Low-risk births are managed by midwives with support from perinatal nurses; complex deliveries are transferred off-Island.

Remuneration: Fee for Service with a guaranteed shift minimum with rural premiums and availability payments through MOCAP; Facility-Based LFP may be an option.
