JOB SUMMARY

This clinic is looking for a Family Physician with Addictions Medicine skills (or keen interest in training) to join its team.

This is a 3-month locum position with an expected start date of November 1, 2024 ending approx. January 31, 2025. The clinic is looking for 1-2 shifts per week coverage during regular clinic hours (0900-1730), additional locum hours maybe available.

This clinic is located in the Comox Valley Nursing Centre and provides team-based care in the meaningful and exciting field of addictions medicine and primary care for vulnerable populations. The on-site team includes admin, NP's, RN's, and SW. This allows service 5 days weekly and same-day access.

The Comox Valley Nursing Centre is a service within Island Health’s Primary Care portfolio - we believe in partnerships between clients, family and health care professionals.

Work is also available with the Addiction Medicine Consult Service at the Comox Valley Hospital. As well as an Outreach based service at identified sites in the community providing episodic primary care for those not yet able to successfully attend clinic-based services, to increase access.

A typical weekend in the region can include superb salmon fishing, paddle boarding at Goose Spit or on Comox Lake, a tube float down the Puntledge River, or time spent on a patio at one of the three local micro-breweries.

The physician community is welcoming and collegial with 19 full-service medical clinics, two walk-in clinics, and a military base clinic. We are currently served by the Island Health run Comox Valley Hospital, a 153-bed acute care facility.
