Role and Facility Information

The RCH Department of Medicine is looking for a clinical General Internist. We provide inpatient coverage for the Clinical Teaching Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital, General Internal Medicine consultations for other Departments in the hospital as well as outpatient coverage for the Internal Medicine Outpatient clinic. The successful candidate will be part of the GIM group practice and will provide services as determined by the needs of the clinical group. This will involve providing coverage for the inpatient services as well as the RCH outpatient clinic. He/she will provide teaching for learners in the form of medical students, residents and fellows and take part in educational and administrative activities. This position will also provide call for RCH as determined by CTU and consult service needs. Further clinical details can be discussed with interested applicants.

This position offers the opportunity to practice as a General Internist in a tertiary care academic centre. The candidate will also be expected to be involved in teaching in General Medicine. There will be an expectation to provide clinical leadership in at least one of the program areas. He/she will be expected to participate in Journal Clubs, Rounds and other academic endeavours.

The position is scheduled to start July 1, 2023 and the compensation is Fee for Service.
Qualifications
The candidate must have passed the Royal College Examination in Internal Medicine and must demonstrate evidence of sufficient clinical experience in all areas of General Medicine. The candidate must be proficient in basic procedural skills such as lumbar puncture, central line insertion, etc. Experience and demonstrated skills in leadership, medical administration, and/or teaching will be considered an asset. Specific clinical expertise in obstetrical medicine will also be considered an
asset.
