Role and Facility Information

The Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a permanent full time track Cardiac Surgeon to join our group of six surgeons. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years full time independent operating experience. Additional training and experience in complex open and minimally invasive mitral valve surgery would be an asset. The start time for the position is after April 1, 2025

The Royal Columbian Hospital is a full-service, adult non-transplant cardiac surgery center serving a population of almost 2 million. Our service performs over 950 open heart procedures annually, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery, TEVAR and Ross procedures.

We also perform tachy, brady and biventricular cardiac electrical device implants. We are equal partners in the TAVR, TEER and TMVR programs.

The Royal Columbian Hospital is a major teaching site for the University of British Columbia cardiac surgery residency and undergraduate medical education programs. The $1.3 billion Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment will see cardiac surgery infrastructure and operating capacity increase by at least 50% with a projected opening in December 2025.
