Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health Authority (FHA) and the Mental Health and Substance Use Program are currently seeking a Psychiatrist. This position will entail a combination of Inpatient Psychiatry at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Community Psychiatry in the Abbotsford and Mission Communities, with a primary focus on Adult Psychiatry in the community and Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services.

In the realm of Inpatient Psychiatry, you will be a vital member of multidisciplinary teams across all sites, tasked with delivering exceptional care to general psychiatric patients. Your responsibilities will include assessment, treatment, and consultation, as well as conducting family meetings, participating in case conferences, facilitating discharge planning, and collaborating closely with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring continuity of care by fostering positive working relationships with all involved in patient care and advocating for the psychiatric needs of individual patients. Additionally, participation in the ECT and on-call rotation is required.

For Abbotsford and Mission Mental Health and Substance Use Services, your focus will primarily be on adult psychiatry in the community, along with Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services.

Participation in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital psychiatry on-call rotation is mandatory. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the medical education program for University of British Columbia (UBC) undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Upon obtaining a CPSBC license, arrangements will be made to apply for a clinical appointment with the Department of Psychiatry, UBC.
