Pediatrician

Abbotsford Regional Hospital is looking to hire two to three consultant pediatricians, with or without subspecialty interest, to support a busy regional pediatric service providing care to a catchment area of 300,000. Our group consists of seven community pediatricians with two additional providing call coverage support. Current members have subspecialty training in Neurology, Nephrology and Endocrinology. The program provides a mixture of inpatient work, with a ten-bed pediatric ward with the ability to accommodate 16 patients during the busy winter months. The ward is shared with surgeons and psychiatrists who provide care to pediatric patients. There is a ten-bed level IIA nursery providing care within the Fraser Health Neonatal Network. The busy single-room maternity unit supports close to 3000 deliveries a year. There is a four-bed Pediatrics pod in the ER, a six-bed day treatment unit, as well as four-room ambulatory clinic area which houses Endocrinology, Asthma, Cardiology, Hematology and general consultation clinics. In the last year we have also added an Urgent Consult Clinic. The successful applicant is also expected to take part in the Pediatrician of the Week hospitalist program.

We support all levels of medical education, including medical students, an inhouse family practice program plus pediatric residents.
