The Psychiatry department is looking for a Geriatric Psychiatrist to become part of their diverse team of Psychiatrists. As a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, the position is based in Abbotsford, Maple Ridge and Mission. This entails working in the Rapid Access Clinic, Psychiatric Urgent Response Clinic, participating in ER on-call duties, and being on the ECT on-call rotation. This multi-site role also has a component of General Adult Psychiatry (1 day per week Abbotsford and 0.5 days per week Mission).
As a qualified or eligible Psychiatrist, you'll be expected to deliver exceptional care to patients with acquired brain injuries, alongside older adult patients served by the Fraser Health Geriatric Mental Health team, within an interdisciplinary framework. Your responsibilities will include consulting with Geriatric psychiatrists at the mental health center, actively engaging in outreach to patients' residences, and collaborating with attending physicians in Assisted Living and Long-Term Care facilities.
Your role will encompass a spectrum of services such as assessment, outpatient treatment, consultation, conducting family meetings, facilitating case conferences, discharge planning, and imparting knowledge to geriatric psychiatry residents and medical students.
Furthermore, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring continuity of care by fostering strong collaborative relationships with all relevant partners involved in patient care and advocating for the psychiatric needs of individual patients.
Participation in the ECT roster and ER on-call duties is mandatory to fulfill the requirements of this role.
