Specialty Clinical Coordinator

Role and Facility Information

Island Health is hiring a Clinical Coordinator to join their nursing team at Cormorant Island Community Health Centre.

As the Clinical Coordinator, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the patient/client/resident care unit/service. Providing leadership to the multi-disciplinary team, you will coordinate and facilitate daily clinical activities, ensuring effective use of resources.

You will act as the communication liaison between members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as other health care professionals and administrative personnel outside the unit/service. You will supervise and evaluate staff, and provide leadership and function as a role model and coach to assist staff with professional development and achievement of unit/service goals. Other responsibilities include:
- taking a long-range view of operations and patient service delivery
- following through on issues that impact on the overall quality of patient/client/resident care
- developing policies and procedures/standards for operationalizing patient care at unit/service level
- contributing to the monitoring and development of the operating plan
- providing leadership within the unit/service for quality and risk management activities.

What You'll Need to Apply

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's degree in Nursing preferred).
- At least 5-7 years of recent, related experience, including two years of clinical experience and two years of supervisory experience.
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant is required.
- Emergency Department experience required.

Cormorant Island is a small island near Port McNeill on Vancouver Island. As part of the northern region, it is considered remote and accessible by a 20 minute ferry ride. Port McNeill is approximately a two hour drive from Campbell River.
