We are looking for an Internist to join our team of three General Internists in beautiful Powell River. We provide both office and hospital based care. Hospital care includes ER and ward consults and managing a 4 bed ICU. Critically ill patients are stabilized and transferred to tertiary care centers. Call requirements are 1 week every 3 weeks. Currently we all work out of the same outpatient office with EMR and excellent MOAs. Our outpatient (and inpatient) practice is varied as there are no sub-specialists in town.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – Full
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees and medical staff working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES
Recruitment Incentive Fund
• $10,000 one-time payment, prorated for physicians working less than full-time
Fee Premium (%)
• 8.82% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts
Flat Fee
• $13,384.98 annual flat fee payment paid to any physician that resides and practices in an eligible RSA community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.
Relocation Funding
• $9,000 (based on where you are relocating from – within BC)
• $12,000 (based on where you are relocating from – moving within Canada outside BC)
• $15,000 (based on where you are relocating from – moving from outside of Canada)
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME)
• Individual funds - $6,000 over 4 years
Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA)
• R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees, requiring 9 months of residency and practice in an RSA community and at least $75,000 in billing.
