Clinic Details — Royal Inland Hospital:
The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year.
The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened at RIH in the summer of 2022. Among other services, the tower includes child and adolescent mental-health and substance-use inpatient unit as well as a 30 bed general psychiatric unit (20 general and 10 high observation beds and 3 seclusion beds).
Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services Support services including: a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, two CT scans, and Echocardiography. RIH also features, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage.

Practice Details:
We seek Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist physicians to join our team at Royal Inland Hospital. As a Level II Trauma Centre, services are highly developed to address complex poly-trauma, brain injury, stroke, and post-intensive care rehabilitation. Broad outpatient services and a Physical Medicine Ambulatory Clinic are integrated with allied health colleagues in Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics.
The opportunities include PMR focus in EMG and Trauma, with a fully accredited Neurodiagnostic lab. A second PMR focus is neuro-rehabilitation with the Stroke Unit, Stroke Team and Rehabilitation Ward. A third PMR focus is general medical inpatient rehabilitation including Geriatric and complex medical cases. We also have outpatient clinics for inpatient aftercare, musculoskeletal consultations and interventional spasticity management.
