BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia (BC) devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds and the Neonatal Program is the hub of the provincial quaternary care system. BC Women’s is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with about 7,200 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in BC’s Lower Mainland region and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system. As an academic health centre, BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research through the BC Women’s Research Institute and education in partnership with the University of British Columbia (UBC) as well as professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.

BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth and pediatric patients with chronic medical disorders, and provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC. BCCH offers a wide range of health services and specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, in partnership with the UBC. The pediatric residency program and 16 pediatric subspecialty training programs are accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

ASSOCIATE PHYSICIAN

REGULAR FULL TIME (1.0 FTE)

BC Children’s Hospital, Division of Gastroenterology, are seeking an Associate Physician to provide clinical and academic services.

The Associate Physician practices under the direction and supervision of an attending Pediatric Gastroenterologist and works in a structured team-based specialty care setting to increase capacity and service delivery. Functions as a member of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.

Applicants come with the ability to perform within the scope of Associate Physician duties and responsibilities. Applicants are able to interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations. Ability to communicate and collaborate with families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and follow up. Applicants bring demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with other health professionals and disciplines using a variety of communication strategies. Applicants bring excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team and the ability to document in accordance with CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines. Applicants demonstrate the ability to perform assessments and to perform investigations.

To be eligible, you will have a Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Minimum of two (2) years of accredited postgraduate training in pediatric gastroenterology, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs). Must meet the CPSBC’s English language proficiency requirements. Must be eligible for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class. You must also have Canadian Citizenship, be a permanent resident or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.

Your salary is based upon your experience and in accordance with the PHSA compensation framework.
