Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon within the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations, which is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.

We are looking for Palliative Care physicians that will join and provide clinical service with our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be collaborating with other Palliative Care physicians to provide most responsible provider (MRP) coverage to our Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) and local hospice, and provide consultation services to acute care and community-based patients.
Fraser Health has several openings for permanent part-time Palliative Care Physicians at the following locations:
• 0.6 FTE at Surrey community
• 0.6 FTE at Mission Memorial Hospital, Mission Community and hospice
• 0.8 FTE at Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge Community and hospice
Fraser Health provides integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services, including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 106 hospice beds. We provide undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below:
• One year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
• Two year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.
Remuneration: By service contract at a rate set provincially by the Ministry of Health.
