Role and Facility Information
There is an FP opportunity available to cover an Alternate Level Care unit part-time at Fellburn Care Centre (6050 East Hastings Street). An Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patient is someone who does not require the intensity of resources or services provided in a hospital setting. This position is paid hourly at the sessional rate.
Physicians can pick part time or full time (i.e., anything from 1 to 6 days a week)
Census: Currently 26 will go up to 30 by the end of year
Type of Patients: Primarily medically stable patients needing convalescence or time for activation or non weight bearing after fractures/surgery. Patients waiting for bed matches to Long Term care. If patient becomes medical, we transfer to Burnaby Hospital ER
Length of Stay: Typically 14 days but some longer due to various reasons
Coverage: 1.5 sessions per day (5.25 hours of coverage on site)
Duties: Daily rounds, admissions ( 3-5 per day) Discharges
Remuneration: A session is $563.31/hour so totalling to $844.96 / day
Additional on call: The facility is covered through an after hours on call contract (from 5PM to 8AM) which pays $200/day
