Join our team (https://tinyurl.com/4w5r66dp) at VJH at VJH, where your expertise in managing complex patient cases is highly valued. As a core member of our department, you’ll oversee the general medical care of adults and collaborate on the management of surgical and psychiatric cases. You’ll find this role both stimulating and diverse in its case mix. Just to clarify, this position doesn’t involve coverage for Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, or ICU/code blue patients.
Here, you’ll collaborate with various specialized departments, including Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Urology, and Oncology. And when advanced treatment is required, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating tertiary referrals to Kelowna. Rest assured, our hospital boasts a devoted team of caring allied healthcare professionals who are always ready to support you on-site.
Caring for acutely ill individuals and their loved ones is at the heart of what you’ll do. That’s why your remarkable clinical and communication skills are essential. You’ll collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals, including discharge planning experts, community resources, and family physicians. Teamwork is key here, and we rely on electronic physician documentation to ensure clear plans, smooth patient handovers, and efficient rounding.
You’ll engage with UBC-Okanagan’s medical undergraduate and family residency programs. This opens up exciting doors for you to mentor and provide immersive clinical teaching to the next generation of healthcare practitioners. But that’s not all. We also encourage your involvement in projects focused on advancing Physician Quality Improvement (PQI). Your insights will fuel tangible change, creating an atmosphere of innovation and continuous progress.

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a 196-bed facility and a beacon of healthcare excellence in Vernon, British Columbia. Serving as the primary hospital in the North Okanagan region, VJH provides comprehensive acute care along with advanced medical services and technology.
The unveiling of the Polson Tower marked a significant expansion, boosting outpatient services and introducing specialized units for maternity, pediatrics, intensive and coronary care. Subsequent growth saw the addition of medical inpatient facilities, a fifth operating theatre, and a sophisticated MRI. The hospital’s future looks even brighter with the planned construction of a 44 single-occupancy room psychiatric unit by 2029. This development aims to offer improved and personalized mental health resources.
Nearly 1,800 dedicated personnel cater to approximately 93,720 individuals, including those from First Nations and Métis communities. VJH’s wide-ranging services, from emergency to surgery to rehabilitation, highlight a deep commitment to innovation, excellence, and compassionate care.
